It All Started With A Vision

It was an honor and privilege to join with past Board Chair, Marni Hirshman, last month to celebrate the 90th birthday of Mary King, visionary founder of the Scottsdale Foundation for the Handicapped – now known as STARS – and present her with a crystal vase bearing the inscription:

“Presented to Mary King, Happy Birthday from all your friends at STARS”.

- David Henderson, STARS President & CEO

Celebrating 50 Years Of Dedication

You can't think about STARS Founder Mary King without thinking about Fiesta! The Fiesta is an annual tradition in STARS' long legacy and each Fiesta helps to support our mission of improving the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

Need A Ride Scottsdale?

We are now a service provider offering transportation services to Scottsdale residents age 65+ and people with disabilities (and are ADA-certified) enrolled in the city’s Cab Connection Voucher Program. These individuals can schedule rides with STARS to and from the Meals on Wheels program, dialysis, and medical appointments. Passengers in need of a ride can use their respective pink vouchers when booking travel to and from senior centers. View STARS CAB Connection Partnership in the news here.

Be A Part Of STARS Future

Our mission is to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities by providing a wide array of programs that serve a variety of needs.  We are always interested in new team members who display a passion for service and improving the lives of others. View Current Open Positions

Oh My, How Far We've Come!

We are proud to announce that, for the first time in its history, STARS can offer you a summary of its accomplishments in the form of the STARS End of Year Report 2022.

Scottsdale Shining Bright

Members of STARS Executive Team along with Board Chair Jennifer Alewelt and Board Member Jason Malcom joined local leaders to hear Scottsdale's 12th Mayor David D. Ortega's State of the City Address.  The future is looking bright for Scottsdale in 2023!

Spread Joy In The New Year

Your generous donations have helped STARS continue its mission to improve the lives of individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities for another year in our 50 year history.  As part of your continued contributions, STARS will change lives through opportunity.
